Inspired by qilin mythology, this ceramic incense burner presents the auspicious guardian of Chinese tradition in a refined matte pink color. Known in Western texts as the kylin and in Japan as the kirin, the qilin has long symbolized peace, prosperity and the protection of the home. The sculpted mane, facial features and cloud reliefs preserve the detail of the traditional form while lending it a contemporary finish. The burner features a two-piece construction, with a removable head that serves as the lid. The design makes it simple to burn an incense cone: the cone is placed inside the body, lit, and covered with the lid, and the smoke rises through the qilin’s open mouth. The enclosed chamber accommodates standard incense cones and contains the ash, making it well suited to everyday burning incense with cone incense.  Each burner comes with a complimentary box of incense cones, so it is ready to use upon arrival. When not in use, it also serves as a decorative object in its own right.
